Two of the boys from our most recent litter have done well at AHBA trials. Charley earned his Herding Ranch Dog I title, and one leg of his Herding Trial Dog I title. His brother Chance competed in a different AHBA trial where he swept the competition and added some more titles to his name. On Saturday he was High Scoring Arena Dog, High Scoring Ranch Dog, and High in Trial, earning two legs toward his advanced titles. On Sunday he finished his Herding Ranch Dog III and Herding Trial Arena Dog III titles and earned his first AHBA Herding Champion point!
A huge congratulations to both of these boys’ handlers, we are so proud of you!

Chance earned two new ASCA titles this past weekend, his Started Trial Dog on ducks, and his Open Trial Dog on sheep. Everytime we turn around this boy has a new herding title! Way to go Kathleen and Chance! Hopefully we will be bragging on some conformation wins for this boy in the next month.

On April 24th and 25th, I had the pleasure of attending the All-Breed Herding Trial put on by my own Buckhorn Valley Kennel Club. The most wonderful part of the trial was watching Charley win 1st place and Reserve High in Trial on the Started A Course, with a score of 93. Charley’s previous owners, the Grabow’s, were in attendance, and couldn’t remember whether or not he had earned two legs in AKC or AHBA at a previous trial. Therefore, his new owner/handler, Linda, thought she had earned the first two legs of his title, when actually she had finished his title and got a bumper leg! Congratulations to Linda and Charley!

On Saturday, April 10, Chance finished his HXAs title at the Border Collie Club of Greater Los Angeles trial in Leona Valley, CA (at TASK Farms). He also got a second HSBs leg, and an HXAd leg. Way to go Chance and Kathleen! Did we mention that this boy isn’t even 3 years old!
Chance will be visiting us in Colorado this summer to go to some shows, so look for him at the Durango KC, Central WY and Laramie KC, Flatirons KC, Colorado Springs KC, and Buckhorn Valley KC shows.

Tori earned her first AKC title, the Pre-Trial Tested title on sheep. She did very well, especially considering she had very little training. She is very biddable and maintains a good distance from the sheep.
Pirate got his first PT leg, but got a little too excited the second time around and was called off for gripping. It was my lack of knowledge in how to handle a powerful dog like him, and our lack of practice. We will work on it some more and hopefully try again in June.

Chance, who lives with Kathleen Corum in AZ, went to his first herding trial and came home with a new title! It was an ASCA trial, and he earned his Started Trial Dog title with a third place and two fourth places. Did I mention that Chance is only 11 months old! Way to go Kathleen and Chance!

The BCSA Nationals were a blast! I scribed for the herding trial, and learned a ton. Then Faith competed in agility for the first time, and while she didn’t Q, she is pretty close to being ready. In obedience and rally, Faith got a second leg toward her Rally Advanced title, but didn’t Q in obedience. On Friday was the Puppy Sweepstakes, where Sadie won 4th place in the 15-18 month bitches. On Saturday, Sadie won 3rd place in the 12-18 month bitch class, and Pirate took 4th place in the Bred-By Exhibitor’s Dog class. Sadie finished the week up by taking 2nd in her class on Sunday. We met a lot of great people, and had a lot of fun!

Jack, from the “Fire Litter” is the first Omegan puppy to achieve a title. He got his Junior Herding Dog title from the AHBA. He is now Omegan’s Jack Flash O’Fire JHD. Here are some pictures from the event.

We took Faith, Pirate, Tori, and Sadie to the AHBA (American Herding Breeds Association) Herding Capability Test. Each of them got their first leg toward their HCT title. We will be going to another test in July to get their second legs (which earns the title).
