CH Koda’s You Got Me On My Knees SC (Layla)

No, we haven’t moved on to other breeds…
Layla is owned by my boyfriend Jason Thurston, and is living with Shadow, Pirate, Tori and me in Fort Collins, CO. He bought her from and co-owns her with Alice Caplinger of Koda Rhodesian Ridgebacks in Colorado Springs, CO.
She is a beautiful girl who we are showing in conformation and lure coursing, and we hope to do some performance activities with her as well. She has a great personality, and has surprisingly become Shadow’s best buddy. She has very little patience for crazy Border Collie antics, and often tries to herd large groups of BC’s, usually to no avail. We have learned that it is quite beneath a Ridgeback to lay on a cold, hard floor, and she would rather stand if a soft cushion is not available.
The Rhodesian Ridgeback is a sighthound originating from Africa, where they were bred to hunt lions, and keep them at bay. The most distinctive feature of the breed is the ridge on thier back, formed from hair growing the opposite direction down the back. There is much more information about the breed on Alice’s website.
Layla is OFA Hips-Good, Elbows/Thyroid/DM-Normal, and has a CERF certificate for ‘08, ‘10. We plan to breed her at the end of 2010, so stay tuned!
