DK’s You’ve Gotta Have Faith RA CD CGC HCT, FEMA Certified, Therapy Dog, DSA (Faith)
I used to tell people that my dream dog was a show quality red tri BC…that was until another little tri showed me that color didn’t matter.Faith is definatly my dream dog. She was sired by the same dog that sired Gyp’s litter, a beautiful British import. Her dam is from the same kennel, and was also imported.
She will make a wonderful performance dog, and training for obedience, agility, and her true love Search and Rescue training. Faith is also a Delta Pet Partner, and loves going to schools where kids read to her.
In addition to this, she is very well put together. She has some beautiful attributes, including her wonderful topline, head, and powerful rear that allows for the beautiful free flowing movement described in the breed standard.
Faith started her conformation career at the BC Nationals in 2001, taking second in her puppy class. She has been shown since, but she is still maturing, so we put off the conformation ring as a competitive venue for a while. Faith is now being shown in obedience, rally, and agility, as well as being a FEMA Certified Search and Rescue dog and being certified as a Delta Pet Partner at the highest level. To our knowledge she is the only FEMA certified therapy dog with AKC titles…she really can do it all!
She was bred in January, 2004, and her litter was born March 18, 2004. She was a wonderful mother, and excelled especially in the later stages of motherhood. She was great at teaching the puppies how to be dogs. To find out more about the litter, look at our Puppies page. The boys in this litter are doing very well. Chile is a FEMA certified search dog, Elijah is an assistance dog, Jack is trialling in herding, and Pirate has three conformation championships (AKC/UKC/Intl.), and is showing/trialing in rally, herding, and competing in disc dog events.
Faith was bred a second time, whelping a beautiful litter on June 11, 2005. She is proving to be an even better mom this time. Information can also be found on our Puppies page. This litter has produced some amazing dogs. Tor and Ruh are training in search and rescue, Santo is a much beloved family pet, Tori is training in agility, rally, and disc dog sports, and has already gotten started trialing in herding, and Sadie has finished three conformation championships (AKC/UKC/Intl.), has started trialing in rally, and is in training for Search and Rescue, agility, and herding. Faith is also a Dog Scout, and has earned badges in Dog Care, Steeplechase, Obastacle I, II, & III, Agility I, Backpacking, and Frisbee. She also passed her certification to enter a Tracking Dog test, and will most likely earn her TD as soon as we can enter her in a test.
While Faith was growing up, she was normally “naked” meaning that she would blow coat so badly she looked like a smooth coated BC! This picture of her right before her 7th birthday are a perfect example of how many British Border Collies mature later in life. We promise that Faith is in perfect condition at the time these were taken, that’s not extra weight, it’s all hair!
Faith is OFA Good and PennHip scored, CERF clear, and DNA CEA/CH Normal and CL Normal. She is now spayed so she can focus on her work.
