Bismark’s Outback Cupid CD RA CGC (Shadow)
Shadow was my first Border Collie, and the dog who led me to fall in love with the breed. We looked forever to find a breeder nearby, and finally found one…15 hours away. He was the runt of the litter of ten puppies, and the first one to figure out how to escape from the pen. He grew up to be the tallest of the litter, and he still likes to roam.
When Shadow was about a year old, we were out in the backyard doing yard work, when Shadow got out. He came back when called, jumped back over the fence and came right to me. I started to pet him, and realized something was wrong with his tail.
We took him to the vet, who guessed that he had been hit by a car which broke his tail. He said we would have to amputate it, so after some thought we decided to go through with it. He is now in good health, without his tail, living the life of a normal Border Collie. He is now our “Aussie Collie.” Shadow is neutered.
Shadow is doing obedience and agility training, which he loves. He has completed his CD and his Rally Advanced title (RA). Shadow is pretty much retired, but we hope to get our Rally Excellent title first. At almost 10 years old, Shadow is still the most puppyish of all my dogs, getting daily zoomies. He enjoys going out in public, and loves participating in the yearly Doggy Olympics. We hope that next year he can dominate the veteran’s competition!
