Shadow and I competed for the last time in Rally, at my home show, the Buckhorn Valley Kennel Club. Shadow did wonderfully, getting a 98 for 1st place (in a large Excellent B class!) on Saturday and a 94 on Sunday. He is now “officially” retired from competition at age 10 1/2, and will now enjoy the good life. He will always continue on with his favorite activities of going swimming, going on car rides, and soliciting attention; but I was so happy to have him “play my silly games” one last time.
Shadow is now: Bismark’s Outback Cupid CD RE CGC
Kelsey’s Gordon Setter, Giacomo, also picked up 1 point by going WD/BOW.

Layla is taking her sweet time in picking up points for her Championship, and this past weekend she took two more baby steps toward her title. She took Winners Bitch both days at the Heart of Iowa Kennel Club shows in Marshalltown, IA for two more points. This brings her to 14 points, with both her majors….now onto that elusive final point!

We attended the Rocky Mountain Cluster of Dog Shows in Denver, CO this past weekend, and what a 4 days it was! On Friday (the 13th!) Pirate took Winners Dog for a 4 point major, finishing his AKC Championship! I decided to keep him in the classes for Saturday, because there was a Best Bred-By Exhibitor Group being offered that day. Wouldn’t you know, he won Winners Dog agian for a 5 point major, but didn’t come home with Best Bred-By. It took Pirate a while to finish, but he did so with 21 points and 3 majors! We moved him to the Best of Breed class, where he and Sadie stood by and watched one of the most competitive Best of Breed classes we have ever been in.
Pirate is now AKC/UKC/Intl. CH Omegan’s Fire The Cannons RN DSA (1/2 PT). By finishing his AKC Championship out of the Bred-By Classes, Pirate will be invited to the 2010 & 2011 AKC Eukanuba National Championships. We are very proud of this special boy from our first litter!

At the tender age of 20 months, Chance has earned two new herding titles! He now has his Herding Trial Dog I and Herding Ranch Dog I titles from AHBA. Congratulations to Kathleen and Chance! He is now:
Omegan’s Come By Chance STDs HTDIs HRDIs
Chance also competed in Rally for the first time and earned two legs toward his Rally Novice title, so I’m sure we will be bragging on Chance again in no time!

Faith was in a tracking match today, and earned her certification to enter a Tracking Dog test! We weren’t sure how she would do, as Faith has been trained in air scenting for urban and wilderness SAR, as well as trailing (similar to tracking, but with a person at the end instead of a glove), and has had limited exposure to AKC style tracking. Well, Faith showed us just how good her nose is by plowing right through the track to the glove. Now we just have to find a test to enter her in!

Kelsey’s Gordon Setter, Giacomo, took Winner’s Dog for a 3 pt major on Sunday at the Sporting Dog Fanciers of New Mexico’s Specialty. What a fantastic win! We can’t wait to see what the future holds for this beautiful boy! The show picture will be posted on his page soon.

Jack attended a herding clinic with Gordon Watt, and impressed him so much that he will be travelling to England next year to train and trial in ISDS trials with Gordon. This is an amazing accomplishment for a show bred Border Collie, and if he is able to pass the working test for ISDS, he will become the 2nd show bred Border Collie in history to get an ISDS Register on Merit. A big thanks to Jack’s owner, Merry Russell, for being willing to let Jack live out his full potential. We like to think that this accomplishment is in part due to the amazing line of Border Collies that we have started with, as well as those we have been able to breed to. We will keep the site updated on Jack’s accomplishments in England.

I have updated most of the website with new pictures, and some of the articles that were a little outdated as well. Please take a moment to look around, and see all the wonderful new pictures of our dogs, and maybe learn something new!

I have added many new things to the website, including biographies for my mom (Doree) and little sister (Kelsey), as well as a page on Our Philosophy, under the Breeding section. I still have some updates to do in the next few days, so check back again in a few days!
